Thursday, April 15 at 18.30 at the Association of Russia-Italy (Milan, Via Silvio Pellico 8) Francesca Gori and Gianni Mura have the book "Women, vodka and gulag" by Marco Iaria published by Limina. This will be the author.
Students of the School of Dramatic Arts Paolo Grassi will read a few pages of the book.
Marco Iaria, a reporter for Gazzetta dello Sport, has done an interesting research on the figure of Eduard Streltsov (1937-1990), champion of Torpedo, a famous football team in Russia.
highly controversial affair to Streltsov, already won the national championship at age 18. Too "Western" for the Soviet Union in those years, always over the top, addicted to alcohol and women, able to reject the daughter of an important leader of the party. Character
uncomfortable, just twenty years old, is accused of shameful accusation: rape.
The press goes wild. Sentenced to 12 years in a trial "farce", was sent to a gulag, prior to transport tree trunks, and then to work in a uranium mine and then quartz. Reduced the sentence to five years by the will of Brezhnev, again wearing the shirt of Torpedo in 1965 and won the championship. He retired in 1970 after an injury, Streltsov to death in 1990 for lung cancer, teaching soccer to children.

His case was reviewed in 2001 by a committee comprising, among others, the chess champion Anatoly Karpov, the mayor of Moscow, Yuri Lužkov, writers and lawyers as Sergei Korolev, Edvard Maksimovskij and Andrej Suchomlikov. We found several anomalies in the conduct of the trial: witnesses proved non-existent or distant several miles from the scene of the crime, the victim's pleas for help never proven by direct evidence. The Committee calls on Russian authorities to reopen the case, but there's nothing to be done. Streltsov
still waiting for a rehabilitation.
A discussion with the author, Gianni Mura, one of the most known Italian sports journalists, and Francesca Gori, an expert on Soviet history and issues of dissent in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
