Review on "The Player"
From "The Player" (June 2010), official journal of the Italian football players:
A thorough investigation into the life of the Soviet national team player Eduard Streltsov, a champion of Torpedo, a famous football team of Russia, already the top scorer national championship at age 18. Awkward, barely twenty years old, is accused of slanderous accusation: rape. Sentenced to 12 years in a trial "farce", was sent to a gulag. Reduced the sentence to five years will Bresnev, again wearing the shirt of Torpedo in 1965 and won the championship. He retired in 1970 after an injury, Streltsov to death in 1990 for lung cancer, teaches soccer to children. His case was reviewed in 2001 by a committee composed of, among others, the chess champion Anatoly Karpov. We noticed several anomalies in the conduct of the trial: witnesses proved non-existent or distant several miles from the crime scene, the victim's pleas for help never proven by direct evidence. The Committee asked the Russian authorities to reopen the case, but there was nothing to do. Even today Streltsov awaits rehabilitation.
